School Building News

I have written before about the poor quality of much of our school building stock and the impact it has on our daily organisation, our budget and in some cases, our ability to deliver aspects of the curriculum. As you know, it is our ambition and intention to rebuild completely Bramcote College and The Bramcote School, and to rebuild parts of Alderman White and substantially refurbish all other areas. Over the course of the last year, I have had many discussions with parents and other interested parties about how the plans were taking shape, and what the next steps are. We have explored all possible sources of funding, including all applications for grant funding.

Green Belt Consultation

On Monday, Broxtowe Borough Council close their consultation on the Green Belt boundary changes. They are proposing that the area of land on which The Bramcote School and Bramcote College sits is removed from the Green Belt and the new boundary will become the railway line to the north of our site. This would seem a logical move, particularly since the Fields Farm development was approved and this is now an isolated area surrounded by development, and the railway line provides a logical and easily-understood boundary.

An Update On Our Rebuilding Project

As you know, we have exciting plans for the development of the school buildings in our Federation. Over the next few years, we will completely rebuild the large majority of our school buildings and refurbish and upgrade all other areas that are not sufficiently high quality and fit for purpose. The project continues to gather momentum, and we are now entering a very exciting period.
