Planning Permission Granted for Bramcote College New Build

05 January 2023 ~ Published in Buildings and Improvements.

The White Hills Park Trust are delighted to announce that Broxtowe Borough Council have approved the planning application for a complete new build of Bramcote College, which represents a major milestone in the project and is a significant step closer to delivering the school building that the students and local community deserve.

It has long been the ambition of the Trust to rebuild the aging Bramcote College buildings, the maintenance of which has a great impact on the school budget, daily organisation, and in some cases the ability to deliver aspects of the curriculum.  The vision for a new school is one that is fully equipped for a modern school curriculum, sitting at the centre of its community and built to the highest standards with sustainability and efficiency in mind.

The Trust's proposal for the construction of a new school and the demolition of existing buildings has been approved in full, and permission has now been granted to deliver the new facility for the whole Bramcote community, in a school that will feature purpose built and modern facilities for all subjects, including science labs, technology rooms, performance spaces and sports facilities, and will provide access to the wider community outside school hours.

The new build design meets the Department for Education's sustainability targets and technology standards, built to low-carbon and climate-resilient standards, while meeting specifications for cabling, switches and connectivity infrastructure.

Designed to fit perfectly into its parkland environment, the new Bramcote College will be a place of pride for the school and local community. It will allow community access to facilities such as a fantastic fit-for-purpose all-weather sports area, planned by a world leading sports surface solution provider and marked out to Sport England specifications.

The all weather sports facilities will be available between the hours of 8am - 10pm, 7 days a week, offering the local community a great benefit and strengthening the links between the school and local teams and organisations.

Construction and demolition will be carried out by Morgan Sindall, a UK leader in the construction of educational facilities creating inspiring buildings and environments to enhance communities; and the design of the build has been conducted in collaboration with Arc Partnership, a local expert team who have delivered over 1000 high value (£16m+) projects since being established in 2016 as a joint venture between Nottinghamshire County Council and SCAPE (a public sector organisation, dedicated to creating efficiency and social value, and delivering projects to the highest standard).

Dr Paul Heery, Chief Executive Officer of the White Hills Park Trust commented: 'We are obviously delighted to have been granted planning permission for the new Bramcote College build. This is a significant step in the journey to our new school. The staff and pupils at the school have worked tirelessly to create a wonderful educational community, and they will finally have the environment they deserve. We look forward to seeing the new school take shape.'

Heidi Gale, Headteacher at Bramcote College, added: 'This is such exciting news for our school. We are so looking forward to the new opportunities the new facilities will bring our young people, staff and wider community.'

The full designs, including floor plans, digitally created images, and our presentation video can be viewed on the Bramcote College website. Construction is set to begin later this year.
